If relationships could progress as fast as the emotions that propel them forward, maybe divorce rates wouldn’t be what they are. However, often this is not the case, relationships which flare up hot and fast will often cool just as quickly; when both parties realize that they weren’t as compatible as they first thought.

It takes time to build a relationship, getting to know someone occurs over a lifetime. If you try to rush headlong in a relationship, you miss out on all the parts that make it great. it is important to learn all about your partner, not just the stuff you like, but the stuff that will drive you nuts. If you feel you are ready to move in together before you’ve even had an argument or without knowing something you don’t like….then you are moving to fast. It would be nice if relationships were all smooth sailing, but no one is perfect, and arguments allow room to make-up.

When going for that first date, choosing the right date activity can be difficult at best. The key is to look for locations that will allow both you and your date the opportunity to talk while still being comfortable for the both of you. This is why old classics like mini-golf, coffee shops, and dinner and a movie are old classics; they provide the best of conversational atmosphere while being familiar spots to hang out.

For horse enthusiasts, the options are much better, and less cliche. A trip to the country or stables gives you the opportunity to talk about a shared interest while simultaneously being an entertaining diversion. A horseback ride can not only be romantic, but energizing, a more intimate type of go-kart racing bringing fun, excitement, and allowing for a picnic afterwards.

Breaking the ice is often the most difficult part of meeting other people. The forums on Equestrian.com are great places however, because you can talk to people of like interests. Why don’t you go under General discussion and do a survey about the favorite horses for show-jumping, and what they think? That way you can see who else on this site likes show-jumping, and you can talk to them about it, something that you are both interested in. Maybe think about other things that you like to do…come up with some specifics.

You want people to get to know you, and it’s hard because nobody really knows what to say about them self. People get to know each other by the things they say and the things they do. If you talk about things you like to talk to people about in real life, you are giving everybody - not just the members of the opposite sex- a chance to see what you are really like. After they see what you are like, they might realize that you are the kind of person they want to have a relationship with.

The horse community, being such a social/interactive atmosphere gives an individual great exposure to meeting someone. A problem usually poses of shyness once in close proximities with a member of opposite sex.<o :p> </o>

Having the knowledge of a common interest in horses gives you the opportunity to speak with an individual by first asking an opening/positive question on their horse interest, this is a great starter still allowing you to mention something of current interest.<o :p></o>

The time it takes to warm up to someone to feel comfortable around while breaking away from shyness can build a friendship between a pair of individuals which allows you to be active in the horse related socials.
